Babor, born in 1483 was the founder of Mughal dynasty. At the early age
of 11, Babor’s father died and he became the king of Farghana. At the time
of his accession to the thorne, Babor was surrounded by enemies on all sides.
Ahamed Mirza attacked Babor in 1495 but the attack failed and he himself died
in the same year. In November 1497, Babor was able to capture Sourate, but soon
he lost both Sourate and Farghana and in February 1498, Babor was not the king
of any place. He had to live a life of a wonderer for more then one year.
In June 1499 he was able to recapture the capital of Farghana. In 1500, Babor conquered Samarkand for the second time but he was forced to vacate it by the Uzbegs. In the same year he again lost Farghana. The result was that in 1502, Babor decided to try his luck some where else. Babor set out for Kabul where there was political chaos. He was able to manage the situation to his own advantage and occupied Kabul in 1504. As the king of Kabul, he ruled twenty two years when he went into his major offensive against India. He died in 1530.
