Mother Teressa
The embodiment of Divine love. Mother Teressa was born on 26th
August 1910 at Skopje in Macedonia. It was at the age of twelve that for the
first time she felt a keen desire to spend her life doing God’s work. Agnes was
18 when the decision was made. On the 25th September 1928 she left
for Dublin where the mother house of Loretto sister is. On lst December 1928
sister Teressa left for India to begin a new life. To clear her tormented soul
and to look for direction sister Teressa went for a retreat to Darjeeling on
the 10th of September 1937.
It was in August 1948 that she received
the permission to leave the Loretto community by the people of Rome. On 19th
March 1949 the girl came back in all simplicity and earnest faith. With
continuous work their community work grew. Soon Teressa began thinking about starting
a congregation. This was approved on 7th October, 1950.she received
the Nobel Prize for peace in 1979.On 5th September, 1997 mother
Teressa died of a heart attack. She was buried on 13th September,
1997.
