6. Greenhouse
Effect /Global Warming
As the UN (United Nations) has declared
the green house effect / global warming as a major threat to the world , we
cannot but worry about it . It is the gradual warming of the air surrounding
the earth . There are many factors behind this global threat . Among these the
main reason is environment pollution . It is the human beings who pollute the
environment and thus invite the worst catastrophe (সবচেয়ে
বড় বিপর্যয়)for human civilization . This is exemplified (উদাহরণ দেয়া) by the destruction of rain forests , by
the endless movement of vehicles of city streets , by the rapid growth of
industry , by the use of detergents . The oceans are also affected because of
industrial waste products , oil seeping from damaged supertankers (বড় তেলবাহী জাহাজ) and other
maritime disasters (সামুদ্রিক
দুর্যোগ) . However the main culprits (অপরাধী) for the green
house effect / global warming are carbon-di-oxide gas , methane and CFCS . If
we think about the after- effect of the greenhouse effect , no rational being
cannot help worrying . The worried climatologists predict that temperatures may
have risen to an alarming level for the next century . This could
catastrophically (ধবংসাত্মকà¦াবে) reduce mankind's
ability to grow food , destroy wild life and wilderness , raise sea levels , and
flood coastal areas and farmland . We are terrified (আতঙ্কিত) that the lower southern part of
Bangladesh may one day go under water . In the face of such an alarming
situation , no one should remain idle as our mother earth is only one and so we
should share her and care .
