24. Satellite TV Channels
When TV channels are connected with
satellite, they are called satellite TV channels. It has brought a great change
in telecasting (সম্প্রচার) TV programs. Once we watched only BTV. But at present we can
watch many channels. And it is possible for satellite TV channels. We can watch
BBC and CNN. Besides, we enjoy Discovery Channel, Animal Planet and History
Channel. These channels telecast highly informative and educative programs.
Some channels telecast games and sports. Some popular channels are Ten Sports,
ESPN and star Sports. Now we can enjoy games and sports live. Besides, we can
enjoy many international programs through satellite TV channels. They telecast
films, musical programs, cartoons, news and talk show. They give us both
information and entertainment. But satellite TV channels have some demerits
also. Sometimes they telecast some programs, which are not suited to our
culture. Young boys and girls waste time by watching these channels. Violent (মারামারি) and obscene (অশ্লীল) films affect their minds. Some of us
think that they make cultural assault (আঘাত). Considering all these, we should
take its good sides and avoid its bad elements.
