28. Celebration of Victory Day / Independence Day

The 26^th March is the Independence Day / The 16^th December is the Victory Day. The Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman declared independence on the 26^th March 1971. After the nine- month- long Liberation War the Pakistani occupation forces surrendered to us on the 16^th December 1971. Every year Barisal govt. College arranges a massive program to celebrate the day. This year the college took a series of programs. The day’s long program began with the hoisting of the national flag. The Principal hoisted (উত্তোলন করলেন) the national flag. We all saluted our national flag. Then we sang the national anthem (জাতীয় সংগীত). After that a blood donation program was arranged. Many of the students and teachers donated blood. Then a painting competition was held. Next a cultural program was held. Some of the students and teachers sang patriotic songs. At last a drama was staged. It may be said that the whole program was very enjoyable.
